I am deeply disappointed and upset by the way this doctor treated my elderly parents when they visited him today seeking medical advice and relief from my father's health problems. My parents are senior citizens, and my father was already unwell, while my mother was under considerable emotional stress. Since I live outside the city, they visited the doctor on their own, hoping to receive proper medical attention and guidance. Unfortunately, what they experienced was a complete lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic human decency. Despite paying the consultation fees, the doctor did not even bother to ask my father what health problem had brought him there. Instead of listening to his concerns, he reportedly spoke to my parents in an extremely rude, arrogant, and disrespectful manner. Particularly disturbing was the way he addressed my father using words such as "Tu" and "Tum" and called him "illiterate." Such language and behaviour towards an elderly patient are completely unacceptable, especially from a medical professional. My parents remained calm and did not argue, not because they accepted his behaviour, but because my father was unwell and my mother was already distressed. They had gone there seeking medical help, not humiliation. When my parents told us about the incident, we were naturally furious and deeply hurt. However, we also realised that this experience revealed the doctor's own upbringing, attitude, and lack of professionalism. Being a doctor is not just about medical qualifications or professional status. It also requires compassion, patience, humility, and respect for patients, particularly senior citizens. At the very least, a patient deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and given an opportunity to explain their medical concerns. No doctor should behave as though patients have no other options or that their professional position gives them the right to insult others. We will certainly consult another doctor for my father's treatment, but the disrespect and emotional distress caused to my parents cannot simply be overlooked. I am sharing this experience because I would not want another elderly person or family to go through something similar. I would strongly advise others, particularly those accompanying elderly parents, to consider other doctors in the city who demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and basic respect for their patients.
